Healthy Habits for a Better Work-Life Balance

Working remotely can be a struggle, with the boundaries between work and personal life often becoming blurred. Here are some steps you can take to regain your balance and avoid burnout. Exercise Daily Simple activities like a quick walk, bike ride or yoga routine can help your mind and body. Just 15 minutes a day can help improve concentration, memory and creativity, while also reducing stress. Draw Clear Lines Mentally unplug from work by drawing clear boundaries for when you begin and end your workday. Create consistent routines that prevent you from falling back on habits, like automatically opening your laptop in the morning or checking emails before bed. Stop and Breathe Use mindfulness strategies throughout the day. There are numerous apps and videos online that provide free breathing and meditation exercises. If you have children, encourage them to participate in the exercises with you. Prep Ahead Designate a day to prepare well-balanced meals in advance for the work week. You’ll eliminate the daily hassle of deciding what to eat and avoid resorting to unhealthy convenience foods. Make a Plan Some of us have a hard time shutting down for the day when all we can think about is everything we have to do tomorrow! Put your mind at ease by spending the last 10 minutes of each day to identify the three most important tasks for the following day so that you can hit the ground running.
